StartupHoyas MED is an organization dedicated to healthcare entrepreneurship throughout the Georgetown University Community. Each year, we sponsor speakers, collaborative workshops, networking opportunities, and educational events to bring together members across the Georgetown University campus to explore opportunities to innovate within the healthcare space.
Additionally, StartupHoyas MED aims to connect student and faculty entrepreneurs with the direction and resources they need to succeed within the dynamic and growing entrepreneurial community in the DC Metro area.

Ted graduated from Duke University in 2016 with a B.S. in Biology, and is now an MD/MBA Dual Degree candidate at Georgetown. He is passionate about the future of healthcare and is dedicated to making it massively better for every human being.

Elizabeth graduated from Columbia University in 2016 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. Prior to attending the Georgetown School of Medicine, she developed and launched ten global formulas for the Baby Health R&D team at Johnson & Johnson.
MBA
Sharon’s interests are in emerging technologies in robotics and automation. As the automation engineer of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard’s Genomics Platform in Cambridge, MA, her work involved technology implementation/ integration projects, operations transformation, robotics process automation and Java messaging, and finding unique applications for cutting edge technology for Next-Generation Sequencing processes. Sharon is also the recipient of Horizons for Homeless Children Playspace Leader of the Year from the state of Massachusetts.

Daniel graduated from Eckerd College in 2017 with a BS in biochemistry and is now pursuing an MD/PhD (neuroscience) at Georgetown University. In the future, he hopes to develop new therapies and tools for treating neurological disorders through entrepreneurial driven research.
John is the founder of Savenia Labs, a MD-based company reinventing appliance, electrical product and home energy ratings so that individuals and businesses can assess lifetime energy costs and environmental impact prior to purchasing. John was recently named Maryland Entrepreneur of the Year by the Maryland Clean Energy Center. Savenia Labs was also named Maryland Incubator Company of the Year in 2013.
Prior to this role, John was a 22-year veteran of GlaxoSmithKline. His career included various commercial and business unit executive positions in 4 countries, 6 cities and across 15 roles covering pharmaceuticals, vaccines, diagnostics and eye care products. John has launched over 25 products, built-out business units in the US and UK, and led start-up operations in Japan. John also founded industry groups to better work with the governments of Japan and the United Kingdom, and served as a company representative in Washington DC.
