What To Expect
Drop-in office hours open to all of Georgetown
An experienced entrepreneur sits down for an hour and whoever shows up sets the agenda. Some weeks it is one founder working through a hard decision; some weeks it is a room of people trading notes. Bring a problem, or pull up a chair and hear how experienced entrepreneurs think.

Office Hours are led by Georgetown’s Venture Advisors: founders, operators, and investors who have started and scaled companies, raised capital, sold businesses, and made every mistake you are worried about. A few of the regulars:

Before You Come By.
Do I need to register or RSVP?
No. Just show up. If you are joining virtually, click the Zoom link at the start of the hour.
Do I need to have a startup or a business idea?
Not at all. Plenty of people come to explore whether entrepreneurship is for them, to ask about careers in startups or venture capital, or simply to listen. Founders at every stage are welcome too.
Who is allowed to attend?
Anyone in the Georgetown community: undergraduates and graduate students from every school, alumni, faculty, and staff. You do not need to be affiliated with the McDonough School of Business.
What if I can’t make it in person?
Roughly once a month there is a virtual session on Zoom at the same time, built for students studying abroad, alumni outside D.C., and anyone who cannot get to campus. Virtual dates are marked in the list above.
Is this the same thing as Chalk Talks?
Yes. Chalk Talks has been renamed Entrepreneurship Office Hours to make it clearer what it is: an open hour with experienced entrepreneurs. Same format, same hosts, same open door.
Can I get more time with one of the mentors?
Yes. Every host is a Venture Advisor and offers free one-on-one mentoring. Visit their profile on the Venture Advisors page and submit a short request form; we will make the introduction.
