Georgetown Entrepreneurship Sponsors WTOP Podcast “Founding DC”

Georgetown Entrepreneurship is proud to sponsor Founding DC, a new podcast from WTOP News hosted by acclaimed entrepreneur and restaurateur Dan Simons, co-founder of Founding Farmers. Created in partnership with NFP and supported by Shulman Rogers, the podcast offers a front-row seat into the real-life stories behind some of the D.C. region’s most successful and inspiring ventures.   Set against the backdrop of our nation’s capital — a city pulsing with innovation, ambition, and civic leadership — Founding DC captures the raw, real, and reflective journeys of local founders. From navigating failure to capitalizing on chance, the podcast dives deep into the human moments that shape the entrepreneurial path. The inaugural episode, recorded live on March 13 and airing on March 25, features a powerhouse duo:
  • Seth Goldman, co-founder of Eat the Change and Honest Tea, and chair of Beyond Meat
  • Mark Ein, Chairman of Kastle Systems, serial entrepreneur, and minority owner of the Washington Commanders
Together with Simons, they’ll unpack their journeys, discuss what they wish they’d done differently, and share how their missteps led to bigger breakthroughs than they could have imagined. Each Founding DC episode is recorded in front of a curated live audience of about 50 local founders, innovators, and business leaders at WTOP Studios in Chevy Chase, Maryland. These sessions include a breakfast reception designed to build community, spark conversations, and open the door to new connections. At Georgetown Entrepreneurship, we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire future founders — and Founding DC is exactly that: a platform where the next generation of entrepreneurs can hear directly from those who’ve built, stumbled, and succeeded in our own backyard. This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting innovation throughout the D.C. region and aligns with our mission to empower Hoyas and our broader community to think entrepreneurially and act boldly. We invite you to subscribe to Founding DC on your favorite podcast platform and follow along as this exciting new series unfolds. Whether you’re a seasoned founder or just getting started, these conversations are packed with practical insights, honest reflection, and plenty of inspiration. Let’s celebrate the entrepreneurs shaping the future of Washington, D.C. — together.
