Space Capital with Chad Anderson at Venture in the Capital 2024

Chad Anderson, founder and managing partner of the seed-stage firm Space Capital, joined the virtual portion of Georgetown’s 2024 Venture in the Capital Conference in a conversation moderated by Phoebe Martin (MSB’24).

Anderson explained that Space Capital invests in entrepreneurs using satellites and space-based technology to transform industries on Earth. He described noticing in 2012, while studying how new markets form, that SpaceX was removing the high cost and opacity that had kept new companies out, and said far more private capital has since flowed into space companies. He discussed geospatial data platforms, pharmaceutical research in orbit, 3D printing and the challenge of building infrastructure on the moon, as well as the need for countries to coordinate in space as a global commons. He also pointed students to resources to learn the industry’s basics.
