SUPERHERA was born out of Paul’s personal experiences as a Division I soccer player at Georgetown. As a three-time captain of the Hoyas women’s soccer team, she led her squad to historic achievements, including their first-ever College Cup semifinal appearance. However, her journey was far from smooth. Paul faced significant challenges, including depression, eating disorders, and two ACL injuries, which shaped her perspective on resilience and leadership.
These experiences inspired her to build SUPERHERA, a brand that combines high-performance sportswear with a mission to empower female athletes. SUPERHERA’s gear is designed by women for women, addressing critical gaps in fit, function, and comfort often overlooked in traditional athletic apparel. The brand’s tagline, “Freedom to Perform,” encapsulates its goal of helping women excel both on and off the field. The John Carroll Weekend Victory
The GEA Alumni Pitch Competition at John Carroll Weekend is one of Georgetown’s most prestigious entrepreneurial events. Modeled after “Shark Tank,” the competition featured three alumni-led ventures pitching their ideas to a panel of expert judges. Paul’s pitch for SUPERHERA captivated the audience and judges alike with its focus on innovation, sustainability, and social impact.
SUPERHERA stood out for its commitment to addressing the unique needs of female athletes through data-driven sizing and advanced fabric technology. The brand also emphasizes sustainability by producing its gear in Los Angeles with eco-friendly practices. This holistic approach to sportswear design resonated with both investors and attendees. Impact Beyond Sportswear
Paul’s vision extends beyond creating apparel—it is about fostering a community where female athletes feel seen, supported, and empowered. Her book, *Becoming a Superhero*, intertwines her personal journey with insights from other female leaders, offering a framework for overcoming challenges and embracing one’s strengths. This philosophy is deeply embedded in SUPERHERA’s mission.
In addition to its retail success, SUPERHERA has partnered with Georgetown Athletics to provide performance gear for university teams. The brand’s Georgetown-branded apparel is also available at the campus bookstore and through alumni association channels, further strengthening its ties to the Hoya community. A Role Model for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Marina Paul’s journey from athlete to entrepreneur exemplifies resilience and innovation. Her win at John Carroll Weekend not only validates SUPERHERA’s mission but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs within the Georgetown community and beyond. By leveraging her personal experiences and business acumen, Paul has created a brand that champions female empowerment while redefining athletic wear.
As she continues to grow SUPERHERA, Paul remains committed to making a lasting impact on both the sportswear industry and the lives of female athletes worldwide. Her recent victory is just another step in what promises to be an extraordinary journey.
