In the third episode of Create the Future, Georgetown Entrepreneurship’s podcast on business as a force for good, Cynthia Groves, an adviser to the Kosoy Women in Business program at the McDonough School of Business, talks with Jen Dalton (B’99, MBA’12). Both are contributing authors of Mastering the Corporate Chess Game, a book written by a group of Georgetown alumni about navigating corporate life with intention.
Dalton shares how to judge a company’s culture before accepting an offer: know your own values, research the company’s, and ask about daily work, mentorship, work-life balance and career growth. She describes the “green flags” that told her it was time to leave a 10-year career at Capital One, how her executive MBA prepared her to launch a business, and why a personal brand is “never about personal bragging.” Proceeds from the book support the McDonough School of Business.
