Season 2 Episode 6: Patrick’s Pet Care

Patrick in Blue_1857

OxiWear is a company focused on the development of a medical device that measures the oxygen level in the blood, and signals when that level drops dangerously low. It’s a niche product for the millions of people who’ve been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension – a disease that causes their oxygen level to precipitously drop to life-threatening levels.  The device is designed to look like a fashionable earring and on a moment’s notice it will call 911 and phone-a-friend, to save the life of the wearer. Shavini Fernando, a Georgetown alum with this ailment, created the device, drawing upon her background as a computer scientist, software developer and designer.
