As sweetgreen’s Co-CEO, Jonathan leads the company’s strategy, culture, growth, and innovation with business partners and co-founders Nicolas Jammet (B’07) and Nathaniel Ru (B’07).
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Neman graduated from Georgetown McDonough in 2007, where he met Jammet and Ru. The three entrepreneurs founded sweetgreen during their senior year, opening their first location in Georgetown in August 2007 – just three months out of college.
The idea was born from their belief that the community would benefit from a healthy, delicious, and eco-friendly dining option. They passionately believed it was possible to create “food that fits” one’s values, budget, tastes, imagination, and community. Since then, they have built sweetgreen to become the market leader in local, organic, healthy fast food, with over 500 employees and 18 stores throughout Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Philadelphia, as well as new locations in Boston and New York City.
