Jeff Reid

Founding Director of the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative & Professor of the Practice of Entrepreneurship McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University

Jeff Reid is a catalyst for entrepreneurship and a well known leader in entrepreneurship education. In 2009, Reid launched the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative to catalyze entrepreneurial thinking and activities across Georgetown University and impact the growing DC startup community. The initiative has grown rapidly, with Georgetown recognized in 2012 by the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers, and in 2017 by the AACSB, as a global leader in entrepreneurship education. In 2020, Georgetown MBA graduates were rated as the #1 “most innovative and creative” in the world and 5th in the world for “exceptional entrepreneurial skills and drive” by recruiters in the Bloomberg BusinessWeek Global MBA Recruiter Survey.

Earlier in his career, Reid founded the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and grew it from inception to a No. 1 national ranking by Forbes and Princeton Review. He was chosen by his peers and Entrepreneur magazine as one of the top five entrepreneurship center directors in the United States, and has served on the leadership boards of the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers and the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE). He received USASBE’s national award for innovative entrepreneurship pedagogy in 2004 and again in 2018. In recent years, Washingtonian Magazine named Reid a “Tech Titan” (2015, 2017) and DC Inno named him to its inaugural “50 On Fire” list (2013, 2019).

In addition to his work in higher education, Reid has held leadership roles for a venture backed telecommunications startup, a global corporate law firm, and two non-profit education organizations.
