Arun is currently an Adjunct Entrepreneurship Professor/Senior Advisor to Provost at Georgetown University, Lecturer at Stanford University, and a Venture Partner at Columbia Capital. Arun is active in the emerging technology, entrepreneurship, public policy, and international finance communities and currently serves as an Independent Director on the Board of LXP Industrial Trust (NYSE:LXP), C5 Acquisition Corp (NYSE:CXAC) and LMI.
At Georgetown University, Arun is a Senior Advisor to the Provost, serves on the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, and teaches Entrepreneurial Finance and Venture Capital at McDonough School of Business and was awarded the Entrepreneurial Faculty Teaching Excellence Award and the Peter W. Gonzalez Jr. Award for Excellence in Faculty Teaching. Arun is actively engaged with initiatives related to Tech & Society, AI/Cybersecurity at the Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET), and the Pivot Program – teaching business skills to returning citizens.
At Stanford University, Arun serves on the Stanford in Washington (SIW) Advisory Board and is a Faculty Lecturer teaching ” Valley Meets Mission: Purposeful Entrepreneurship with Government” at Stanford in Washington. The class highlights his professional and academic experience building successful mission-oriented entrepreneurial opportunities at the intersection of the government, mission, technology, and entrepreneurship. Arun is passionate about inspiring students to pursue mission-oriented entrepreneurial careers. In addition, Arun participates on a working group, led by Francis Fukuyama, researching recommendations to dampen velocity of “Disinformation” on big-tech platforms.
As a Partner at Columbia Capital, Arun’s investment career spanned eighteen years and he initiated the firm’s Cybersecurity investments with a focus on emerging tech-enabled services and infrastructure companies in National Security, AI, and SaaS/Cloud infrastructure sectors. Prior to joining Columbia Capital in 2000, Arun was at Carlyle Venture Partners focused on software investments. Arun’s recent investments in the Cybersecurity and National Security sectors include: Endgame (acquired by Elastic), Altamira (acquired by Clearsky), 1901 Group (acquired by Leidos), and BlackLynx (acquired by Jacobs Engineering). Prior to Carlyle, Arun held positions in Arthur D. Little’s telecom and technology consulting practice and shared responsibility for establishing ADL’s management consulting operations in Mumbai 1995-98.
Arun received a B.S. degree with Distinction in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. degree in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University (’91). He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School (’95).
