The Georgetown Entrepreneurship Summer Launch Program is a startup incubator program designed specifically for Georgetown students and current year graduates who want to launch a new venture. Many of our most successful student-led ventures have participated in the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Summer Launch Program. Several have gone on to gain admission to other regional and national accelerators, or receive other offers of investment and support.
Participants in the Summer Launch program receive:
- Dedicated support from Georgetown faculty, mentors, experienced entrepreneurs, and peers.
- Workspace on Georgetown University’s main campus as well as access to the Georgetown Venture Lab at WeWork Metropolitan Square in downtown Washington, D.C.
- A stipend per team (up to 10 teams) so you can focus on your startup, not living expenses. Part I will supply $2,000.00 per team and Part II up to $1,000.00 per team.
- Introductions to local investors and entrepreneurs
- Invitations to exclusive networking events, and opportunities to present their ideas to the Washington, D.C. entrepreneurship community.
How it Works
For Part I of the program begins with a two-day “bootcamp” in late May. Following this bootcamp, the full cohort meets twice per week over a four-week period in June. Traditionally, Tuesdays are for check-ins with assigned mentors and Thursdays are dedicated to training and co-working.
Entrepreneurs work full-time to accelerate the development of their ideas, gain traction with customers, and build a case for investment with seed funders. Using “lean startup” principles, participants work on the components of their business model and collect the data to validate whether their idea has growth potential. Participants must be available to attend all sessions, as well as the showcase event in late June.
For Part II of the program, an elite few of the original teams will be chosen to pursue their ideas. With a set regiment of deliverables and mentor support, these selected teams will continue to incubate their ideas for an additional four-week period through July. At the end of Part II there will be an opportunity to capture the whole program experience and exhibit progress.
How to Apply
Students currently enrolled in any Georgetown degree programs are eligible to participate, as well as students graduating in the current calendar year. To apply, complete the form link below. You will then be contacted to schedule an interview. Please note, your application is not complete until you have submitted your application (including executive summary) and completed your interview.
The incubator program is designed for very early stage ventures; companies do not have to be revenue-generating in order to apply, but should have a well-defined concept, including a revenue model. Similarly, non-profits are permitted, but will be expected to have a proposed model for achieving financial sustainability.
Early admission deadline February 24th, EOD. For the Summer 2020 cohort, applications will be accepted until the program is full, and teams will be notified of a decision on a rolling basis (i.e. first come, first served).
